Linda Felcher is a multimedia and interdisciplinary drag cryptid that has been lurking in the depths of the Brooklyn Nightlife scene since 2013. Working in live and digital performance, Linda is also a skilled costume designer and maker of things, fusing mediums to tell stories on stage (and screen). Linda is a shapeshifter, exploring gender and the limits of the (in)human body through their designs, distorting the human form with masks, makeup, puppetry and video. These performances consist of the physical interpretation of sound, music and audio spliced together with spoken word and pop songs recontextualizing or augmenting their original meanings. They draw inspiration from anime and science-fiction, channeling personal narratives of trauma, erasure, and dysphoria into their work.
They graduated with a BFA in Fine Art at Purchase College in 2013. They are also a title holder being both The Nobodies’ Mx. Congeniality 2018 and Wussy Mag’s winner of Mx. Pure Garbage 2022. They co-produce an eight year, annual event Sonic 2006 Club along with collaborator Sexual Gumby and Full Bush, a seasonal Kate Bush variety show with collaborator Asa Metric. They have been a part of many productions and events including Switch N Play and Bushwig, but has also been featured in experimental theater pieces such as Colin self’s Tip the Ivy, Show Must Go on at America Dreaming, and Ziemba’s Ardis series at MoMA PS1 and Pioneer Works. Linda is featured in Rachel Rampleman Art is Drag continual series, where they are depicted along with numerous other drag performers across the nation as video performance documents shown inside her video installations most recently at La Mama and now live performances inside exhibits.
